About Us
Te Rōpū Pakihi is a kaupapa Māori organisation that has not only included the kaupapa tuku iho, adopted from Te Wānanga o Raukawa, in its constitutional documents, but seeks to design and implement tikanga that gives expression to them in all activities.Te Rōpū Pakihi was established in April 2001 by nine local Māori business operators. The rōpū meets regularly throughout the year for membership luncheons, evening networking hui and events. In 2007 the rōpū was incorporated as a society and achieved charitable status in 2009 and is governed by an executive committee. All activities undertaken by the network are done so with the aim of maximising the expression of kaupapa.

These are the fourth biennial regional Māori business awards to be organised by Te Rōpū Pakihi. The awards celebrate distinctive Māori enterprises through the expression of kaupapa (inherited values) in commercial activities. This year's awards will offer three categories with the top (Rangatiratanga) award going to the entrant that most demonstrates the weaving of kaupapa tuku iho across all activities. Māori businesses from the rohe (Paekakariki to Shannon and across to Tokomaru) are eligible to enter the awards. Previous year's entrants have included iwi-owned service providers; whānau operated private businesses and sole traders and many more.
Entries and enquiries can be directed to Kara Kearney, kara@taoni.maori.nz, 06 3648598. Entries close on 10 April 2012 with the Gala Award dinner being held on the 25th of May.
